Our integrative, research-based yoga intensive program offers participants an immersion in that yogic lifestyle. Our Yoga Intensive Retreat is a physically, emotionally and spiritually rejuvenating experience. Our program combines the practice of asana, pranayama, mantra, deep relaxation, yoga philosophy and plenty of free time for self-reflection. Ideal for beginners as well as more experienced yoga practitioners and instructors wishing to deepen their practice, our yoga retreat incorporates theoretical aspects of yoga into daily life. Our research-based Yoga Intensive Retreat serves as the perfect yoga introduction for beginners as well as the perfect yoga immersion for those who have been practicing yoga for some time. Our yoga intensive at SWAN Yoga Retreat in Goa, India introduces yoga in a profound and accessible way. Our holistic yoga program also offers more experienced students with an immersion designed to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga.
Participants in our two week yoga course will learn a wide variety of classical hatha yoga practices including: yoga asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath control), mudras (psychic gestures), meditation and deep relaxation techniques. Traditional yogic detox practices will also be introduced including: jala neti (nasal passage cleansing), vaman & dhauti (stomach & esophagus cleansing), laghooshankhaprakshalana (intestinal cleansing) and trataka (gazing at a candle flame). Within a traditional atmosphere, SWAN Yoga Retreat teaches yoga using the age old methods of the gurukula (traditional Indian teaching method) in an environment free from dogma. Yoga philosophy is an integral part of any yoga holiday at SWAN Yoga Retreat. Fundamental to learning about yoga is an understanding of the ‘why’ behind any yogic practice. It is also crucial to understand that there is so much more to yoga than just the practice of asana (physical postures).

A great retreat in the jungle

My friend and I enjoyed 2 wonderful weeks at Swan, we're both greatful for this experience. First of all, the area is so beautiful and make you feel at peace. We didn't leave Swan at all the first week we were there, there was no need for it, we just tried to take it all in. The variety of classes were good and very interresting, but make sure to embrace it all with an open mind. We felt like part of a big family after a few days, the teachers were a part of "the family" as well as the wonderful guests from all over the world and this makes it all very special and comfortable. The food is delicious, 100 % ayerveda cooking, make sure to attend the cooking class! There's also an ayerveda center, we had a concultation with the doctor and did a series of treatments, they make sure to book the treatments in between classes, this way you don't miss out on anything. Beyond Asana

We have spent two weeks at Swan Yoga Goa and we loved it! The Swan team are native teachers, highly educated in yogic science. They are very passionate about yogic knowledge and tradition. We enjoyed asana and pranayama practise. However Swan offers a range of yogic techniques that go beyond asana, such as yogic concentration techniques, guided yogic sleep (nidra), guided meditation, sound yoga, Vedic mantra chanting, kirtan, puja. The food is ayurvedic, vegan and vegetarian. But it can satisfy even the biggest carnivores as it is balancing and healing and helps in detoxifying the body. I very much enjoyed a cooking class and also learnt how to make chapatis. Swan offers a consultation with an ayurvedic doctor who can advise on balancing one's doshas and give health and lifestyle advice. There are some beautiful beaches about half an hour drive from the village of Assagao. There are also a number of cafes in the area if one feels like eating out. Swan is run by lovely people and have a strong family feel. Special thanks to Jenny for all her advice and hand drawn maps and all the staff who work so hard at Swan.
