Havan is an age-old sacred ritual.
Fire, or agni, is one of the five manifestations of life. The lit fire symbolises the presence of the divine, and so this sacred fire is a medium for the attainment of various wishes and boons in the materialistic as well as the spiritual world. We do havan to dispel the negative energies from our mind and to destroy negative life patterns; everything you want to let go of, offer it to the fire.
Every Saturday at SWAN Yoga, we chant the Mahamrityunjaya mantra,
also known as the Trayambakam mantra, for Lord Shiva.
Om tryambakam yajāmahe sugandhim puṣṭi-vardhanam
urvārukam-iva bandhanān mṛtyormukṣīya māmṛitāt
This mantra is healing, and beneficial for mental, emotional and physical health. It is a moksha mantra, bestowing rejuvenation and immortality. On Sundays we chant the Gayatri mantra, for the Mother.
Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ, tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi, dhíyo yó naḥ prachodáyāt
This mantra is for purification and spiritual guidance. You are welcome to join us at SWAN to experience the sacred fire of Havan every Saturday and Sunday at 6.30 pm
