Yoga Teacher Training in Goa, India

100, 200 and 300 hour residential Hatha Yoga trainings, taught in a traditional ashram in Assagao, North Goa.

Yoga Alliance Registered

Three trainings, one tradition.

All three yoga teacher trainings are fully residential and taught in small batches at SWAN Yoga Retreat, Assagao, Goa. Each training follows the same fundamental approach: Yoga in totality, rather than asana alone.

Our programmes are rooted in the traditional Gurukula system, where learning takes place through practice, study, daily living and direct interaction with the teacher. The teachings encompass the wider tradition of Yoga, including Hatha Yoga, Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Yoga Philosophy, the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, anatomy and self inquiry.

Three levels of training, one continuous tradition, taught in the spirit in which the knowledge was traditionally handed down.

Why train here

Taught in a working ashram, not a course venue.

SWAN follows the traditional Gurukula model, where students live on the campus alongside their teachers and become part of the daily rhythm of the ashram. Learning is not confined to the Yoga Shala or the classroom. It continues throughout the day through practice, study, observation, participation and direct interaction with the teachers, from the 5:30 am start to the evening havan.

Our teachers were trained in the traditional Yoga ashrams of India, and the founders continue to teach personally on every Yoga teacher training. The teachings encompass Hatha Yoga, asana, pranayama, meditation, Yoga Nidra, Yoga philosophy, the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita, anatomy and self inquiry, reflecting our approach of Yoga in totality.

SWAN is registered with Yoga Alliance, USA, and graduates of the 200 and 300 hour trainings are eligible to register as RYT 200 and RYT 300 respectively.

Our teachers have been teaching for 24 years, representing two complete twelve year cycles of the Gurukula Parampara, with the knowledge being transmitted through sustained practice, direct experience and the living relationship between teacher and student.
