SWAN Ayurveda

Classical Ayurveda, supervised by an Ayurvedic doctor.

SWAN Ayurveda offers traditional Ayurveda in Goa, India, with consultation and care provided by our resident Ayurvedic doctor. Our programmes include authentic Ayurveda therapies, prescribed treatments and traditional Ayurvedic massage, along with 2, 3 and 4 week Panchakarma detox programmes.

Our approach to traditional Panchakarma is supported by Yoga, meditation, a sattvic kitchen and the quiet, natural environment of our campus in Goa. Each programme is designed to bring together the principles of classical Ayurveda with daily practices that support cleansing, restoration and deeper wellbeing.

For those seeking a Panchakarma detox in India, an authentic Ayurveda retreat in Goa, or a traditional Ayurvedic healing experience, SWAN provides a residential setting where Ayurveda and Yoga are practised together as complementary paths of wellbeing.

What Ayurveda is

Treating the person, not only the complaint.

Ayurveda is a combination of two Sanskrit words: ayur, life, and veda, knowledge. It is an holistic Indian medical science that deals with body, mind and soul, and it offers not only remedies for illness but a way of living that keeps illness away.

It rests on the tridosha theory, the three biological humours, and on the principles of pancha mahabhuta, the five great elements. It has been handed down through countless generations of Indian medical scholars, and it is designed to treat a person as a whole.

Using a wide variety of plants and herbs, Ayurvedic medicine has few side effects, if any. At SWAN every programme begins with a consultation. Nothing is chosen from a menu, the doctor prescribes for your constitution, your present condition and your individual requirements.
